The academic staff of the Department of Dramaturgy and Performing Arts is involved in history and theoretic studies of performing arts and film. Special focus is placed on the reflection of theatre creative output in Slovenia. The Department was founded in 1945. The development of teaching practice and research in dramaturgy was in initial decades mostly influenced by Professors Filip Kalan – Kumbatovič, Josip Vidmar, Vladimir Kralj, and France Koblar. Subsequently, the advance of the department was significantly marked by the academic achievements of Professors Primož Kozak, Mirko Zupančič, Marko Marin, Andrej Inkret, member of Slovene Arts and Scientist Academy, Denis Poniž and Barbara Sušec Mishieli. Today, the department employs five full-time university lecturers.
